When Father Time Comes Early is an affirmation book......something
to identify with.
Most twenty and thirty year old women having medical problems may never suspect premature menopause. Neither do their physicians. When this becomes realization, the answers do not come easy. As if a victim of a crime, women experience many of the same phases: disbelief, confusion, answer searching, anger, acceptance, and, eventually healing or coping. Understandably, a woman feels that she is the only person in the world with such diagnosis. After seeking confirmation, she finds that many, many others are experiencing the same condition. This situation has no boundaries all across the world. Reading about others and their stories gives you a sense of unity. The healing process begins. Becky said, “my soul felt like it was being destroyed, like an important part of me was being stolen.” |
|
Run and jump and laugh and play; Life’s more fun each passing day.
|
The mind must rationalize the sudden diagnosis of early menopause. At the same time, the body encounters the physiological changes of life at such a young age. Restoration of life, attitude and body must occur.
The book will appeal to those who are in age group of twenty and thirty. Women in their early forties may be drawn to this book, for the books relating to "natural" menopause tend to focus on those in their late forties and those fifty and above. The book would appeal to those who have been diagnosed with early menopause and those who suspect that they may be experiencing it. Lastly, those in their teens will also find comfort. Also targeted includes: nurses, physicians, nursing students and survivors of premature menopause.....gain compassion. The information on "natural menopause" is an accepted reality, yet "early menopause" affects one much more differently. Rita stated, “I’ve been experiencing night sweats for the last month, along with everything else. I don't like who I've become. |

There she stands a lovely maiden; Loveliest the world has seen.
|
One might be somewhat guarded in talking about early menopause to others; the embarrassment and humiliation of it
is complicated. The privacy of a bookstore is more suitable, but I didn't
find much there.
This book contains not only my story and frustration, but also a generous amount of testimonies and anecdotes provided by others. Many women were interviewed and they gladly opened up to someone with the same problem. The book also contains various quotes made by physicians who responded to a survey that I sent out. Quite surprising results! |

Father Time close by your side; As you stand a blushing bride. |
The book provides a worksheet after each chapter for the reader to reflect their personal issues. The worksheets include feelings to explore, possible plan of action, and self-esteem
factors to
investigate.
Once the worksheets are used, they become a record for the reader. Women would want to obtain their own copy so that they can complete their own worksheets. This provides a personal touch for a reader. The benefits include affirmation of the hidden feelings of betrayal of the body. It provides women with a resource and hopefully a referral book for others to read. The book also benefits those who may not know how to deal with a woman affected by this condition. It offers suggestions on appropriate intervention methods. “I got a call on my voice mail at work that I was postmenopausal and what is the number of my pharmacy!! I felt like I was diagnosed with a cold or something.” |
|
Father Time it’s plain to see, Life’s still out there beckoning me.
|
This book lets the reader know that anger is okay and that others share
in their devastation. My own diagnosis left me with the feeling of being victimized by my own body---and possibly by heredity.
It was evident that the diagnosis pointed to the problems that I had since a young age.
At the age of 32, problems were getting worse, yet I had no idea of the real problem. I never had the blessing of a child. After the diagnosis, I was oppositional about reading the literature for 50-plus women----it did not relate to me as a 39 year old. It wasn't talking to me!

| These graphics give the representation of youth, young adulthood, marriage, and adulthood, yet its not always the cyclic order of things for a woman with ovarian failure. Used with permission by G.Graphics use of M. Humphrey's "Father Time" | It is my thought that others will seek this book for the affirmation they need.

Father Time Waits for Me

Change of life, I must comply,
Final answers, but why?
The key is found, but the door won't open.
Do I run or do I hide?
I have no choice as I can see.
Father Time is waiting for me.
He has the key and opens the door.
Altered life, I will explore.
