Planner Guide's
Nostalgic Paper Memories
has a Face behind the
Dot .Com

The
near 7 year-old plannersguide.com web site has marked its spot on the net.
The
site entered its place on the dot.com freeway on May 22, 2000 as a diversion
from an unparalleled new life for its designer.
Behind this maze of information on the internet is its creator, Valerie
Tillery.
After having to quit my job as a social service worker (16 years of experience) in order to care for my 90-year-old
grandmother
in the home, I sought many avenues
to fill my day. Grandmother was a long-time business woman at best. I was now the stay-at-home
granddaughter.
Many
dot.com businesses spring up for a number of reasons.
My reason grew from a new lifestyle after other family members declined
to care for
grandmother.
From this duty-driven obligation, the web site began to evolve out of
necessity. The family funds began
to dwindle and a home-based, source of income was needed.
I then decided to promote my existing calligraphy and certificate
business of “Nostalgic Paper Memories” (Est. 1998).
I increased my stock and added more
1800’s, reproduction Victorian
Certificates of marriage, birth and communion as products to sell on the site.
It has been an added treat to personally work with my clients on special
events in their lives. I get so
excited for them and I enjoy encountering people from all over the Country!
And
World!
I
extend an invitation to those who want to start their
own business! I now offer business plan start-up materials to encourage others to alter their lifestyle some by doing something that makes them happy. It may be a web site, home-based business or small business....just give it a try.
My
mission is to offer a unique product that creates sentiment for the family.
Plannersguide.com is a family-oriented site and does not promote
ill-appropriate content. Etiquette
and socialization is becoming a lost way of life.
This site offers to correct this by providing helpful hints for both
family and corporate users.
Personal
service and a personalized product are also in rare form.
It is difficult to provide personalized service on the internet, yet I
provide my photo, an email address, and offer to answer questions so that I can assist.
Those in rural, low-populated areas of the country can benefit from the
services offered when such is limited in their areas.
I enjoy working on my web site and being a Calligraphy Planning Consultant for brides in this area
(this type of planner works with proper etiquette in addressing invitation envelopes, selecting the proper paper grade, other print shop needs and being a calligrapher!)
What developed in the "stay-at-home
granddaughter" phase, was that I actually returned back to college using my business administration degree to obtain a second degree in Communications and a teaching certificate! I'm certified in speech communication & ESL, yet our school district has actually closed schools here in San Angelo--no
jobs........just my home-based business thank goodness. I
currently volunteer on the advisory board for a local crisis intervention unit
for family violence victims.
I direct-cared "Miss Gladys" for 28
months. Then, grandmother passed away peacefully in her sleep on April 23,
2002. She was so ready by this time. She was a quick-minded 92-year-old,
former business woman, who offered
lots
of advice.
Granddaddy always thought she was smart.
While she provided
practical ideas and could
quickly calculate profit (or loss),
she turned her head and waived
her hand in the air at the 21st century way of doing business and its Internet concept.
Even so, she enjoyed receiving email! She'd ask me why people would
visit my "computer store!" (hard to explain 'world-wide web' to her). I miss her and
miss showing her all these wonderful products.
I
am a real person behind the dot.com,
making a go at it;
I appreciate you taking time to read this story and visit this
site. You might read about my reason for starting
Nostalgic
Paper Memories....its interesting as
well!
